Fermium

Fermium is a chemical element. It is one of the RARE-EARTH elements. It was discovered in 1952. Unmanned airplanes travelled through the radioactive clouds created by an H-bomb explosion. Material in the clouds was gathered by the airplanes. It was brought back to be examined. A new element was discovered in it.
After having been discovered, fermium was later made in a cyclotron and in a reactor. The Argonne Laboratory, Los Alamos Laboratory, and the University of California are credited with its discovery.
The symbol for fermium is Fm. It is a radioactive element in the ACTINIDE SERIES. Its chemical properties are similar to those of ERBIUM. The atomic number of fermium is 100. The mass number of its most stable isotope is 253.
